What We Procure

What's Important To Us

Sustainability

We integrate environmental and social criteria into every procurement decision, aiming for carbon-neutral operations and supporting the Commonwealth’s net zero goals.

Safety

We prioritise the health and safety of our people, partners, and communities. Every activity is underpinned by rigorous safety standards, compliance with legislation, and a commitment to continuous improvement to ensure a safe working environment across all sites.

Eliminating Modern Slavery

We do not tolerate exploitative practices and require all suppliers to comply with our ethical sourcing standards.

Community Impact

We encourage participation from small businesses, social enterprises, and First Nations suppliers.

How We Procure

Ensuring we source the right products and services from the most appropriate suppliers requires a mix of strategically planned sourcing and more tactical, lower value purchasing. We utilise Commonwealth Panels where suitable, as well as operating our own panels and supply agreements for more specialised requirements. We'll typically engage the market, initially through a 'Request for Proposal' process managed by our Procurement team. If you feel your products or services would align with our future needs and profile, you can let us know by sharing a capability statement with our Procurement team here.

Information for Existing Suppliers

Existing suppliers should be aware that we have recently transitioned our ERP solution to Microsoft Dynamics 365. Here's what you need to know:

Transacting With Us

Purchase Orders (POs): All our engagements are formalised through a PO, even if a Contract or Work Instruction has been issued to govern the Terms for the engagement. You should not commence production or delivery of goods or services for National Intermodal without receiving a formal PO for the engagement. This ensures we are able to pay you for the services you provide us. Without a valid PO there can be difficulty and delay in receiving payment from us. Our new PO numbers are easily recognisable in the standard format 'NICLPO-000xxx' or '2010PO-000xxx' or '4005PO-000xxx' depending on the National Intermodal entity that issues the PO.

Payment Terms: Our standard payment terms are 30 calendar days from receipt of a valid invoice against our PO. For Small and Medium Enterprises we offer an enhanced term of 20 calendar days.

Invoicing: Suppliers must submit invoices to invoice@nationalintermodal.com.au with all required details (business name, ABN, PO number, GST breakdown, supporting documents). Invoices are validated to ensure key details are clear and match the information in our PO records. Any deficiency can trigger a delay in smooth processing and therefore in payment of the transaction.

Updating Supplier Records: Suppliers can update their records by submitting a Supplier Onboarding Form along with banking details and appropriate signature, to Procurement.
