Artwork Commission to Acknowledge National Intermodal’s Victorian Presence

    National Intermodal Corporation is inviting Expressions of Interest from emerging and mid-career Victorian-based Aboriginal/First Nations artists to develop a contemporary, vibrant and engaging two‑dimensional artwork. The artwork will be used in National Intermodal’s corporate and project marketing, communications and the built environment for the Beveridge Intermodal Precinct.

    The original artwork will also be displayed prominently in the entry foyer of our Melbourne office on Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung Country.

    The brief identifies the following potential themes:

    • Merri Creek, water and flow
    • Landforms on and around the site (including stony rises, Mount Fraser and the Great Dividing Range) 
    • Connection, exchange and movement across Country.

    Artists may also consider Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung stories, culture and identity, and are expected to gain appropriate cultural permission for any Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung cultural knowledge represented. National Intermodal can help to support the artist with this engagement.

    The commission is for a 2D work (for example painting, printmaking, photography, collage or similar media) at approximately 2200–2300mm wide x 1200–1400mm high.

     

    Submissions close 11:59pm Monday 25 May 2026.

    • Fee: $5,000 artwork + $1,500 licensing (excl. GST)
    • EOI: up to 300 words practice + 300 words concept response + up to five images/links + availability confirmation
    • Submissions due by Monday 25 May 2026
    • Selection of preferred artist on Friday 5 June 2026 and associated commissioning
    • Artist concept submitted Monday 6 July 2026
    • Final artwork delivered by Friday 28 August
