National Intermodal Welcomes Two New Board Directors – Merren McArthur and Scott McKay

16 September 2024

National Intermodal is pleased to announce the appointment of two highly respected industry leaders, Merren McArthur and Scott McKay, to our Board of Directors. Both bring a wealth of experience and expertise that will be instrumental in driving our strategy forward.

Merren McArthur joins the Board with over 30 years of experience as a Director and Senior Executive across a wide range of industries including aviation, resources, infrastructure, transport, professional services, and government. Merren began her career as a commercial lawyer and became an executive partner at Allens, where she specialized in advising governments on major reforms and infrastructure projects. Her notable contributions include the disaggregation and privatisation of the passenger rail and freight industry in Victoria.

Over the past 15 years, Merren has held prominent executive roles in the highly regulated aviation sector. She has served as CEO of Tigerair Australia, Virgin Australia Cargo, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines, and was the founding CEO of Lynx Air, a Canadian start-up ultra-low-cost carrier. Merren’s extensive corporate governance experience, combined with her leadership in various sectors, makes her a valuable addition to the National Intermodal Board.

Scott McKay brings over 40 years of experience across accounting, executive management, and supply chain advisory roles to the Board. Currently, Scott leads Flywheel Advisory, a consultancy specializing in supply chain strategies that drive profitability and service differentiation. His extensive background includes CEO roles at T Ports, Bowmans Rail, and e-fill, a warehousing and distribution group. Scott’s leadership experience extends to his time at Aurecon in Infrastructure advisory, where he served as Principal and global supply chain leader.

Before transitioning to executive roles, Scott spent over a decade as a chartered accountant with KPMG, where he worked across Europe, Asia, and Australia, overseeing supply chain operations for global companies in packaging, apparel, food, and transport. His strategic insights and deep understanding of supply chain dynamics will greatly enhance National Intermodal’s capabilities in these areas.

Merren and Scott’s combined expertise will significantly contribute to the continued success and growth of the organisation.

Additionally, as we welcome our new directors, we extend our thanks to Christine Holman whose term on the Board has recently concluded, recognising her valuable contribution to the organisation.
