National Intermodal, together with the Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government The Hon Catherine King MP, has today announced the commencement of construction of the Beveridge Intermodal Precinct, which marks an important milestone in the delivery of Australia’s largest and most advanced logistics hub.

The Australian Government-owned National Intermodal Corporation (National Intermodal) has completed the transaction to acquire a 1,100-hectare site at Beveridge in Melbourne’s northern growth corridor.

National Intermodal is pleased to support the Australian Government’s endorsement of the recommendation made by the Dr Kerry Schott AO-led review into Inland Rail, that two new independent intermodal terminals connecting to Inland Rail will be delivered in Melbourne, one at Beveridge in Melbourne’s north and the other at Truganina in Melbourne’s west.

The Australian Government owned National Intermodal Corporation has exercised an option to acquire land at Beveridge, previously identified as suitable for the northern terminal connection to Inland Rail.

In another milestone for Australia’s largest intermodal precinct at Moorebank in Western Sydney, the new Interstate Rail Terminal’s container handling facilities are now under construction and on track for receiving its first interstate freight train in early 2024.
